Brake Light Bulb Replacement - Need help. I bought a 99 Honda Shadow 750 a couple weeks back, and my brake light hasn't worked since I bought the bike. I looked around the forum for discussion about bulbs, and I saw references to 1157's, and 2057's, and rotating them 180 degrees if they are glowing bright all the time.
The Shadows fuel pump only runs when the engine is turning over, so if you just turn the key on to test it, it isn't getting any power. Also, there is a safety relay that also controls the pump, used incase the bike is tipped over (in an accident) so the fuel shuts off to eliminate a possible fire.
One quick thing you can try is to jump across the two large terminals on your starter relay and see if the starter turns over. If not the problem is back toward the battery. If it does turn over then the problem is further down the line. A wiring diagram of your bike will be extremely helpful. Good luck.

Mine - I have to remove the seat, lay the ECM off the top of the battery box cover, remove cover top, disconnect (+) & (-), then pull the battery straight up and out. It fits a little snug and has a little friction, but pulls free.
